Montgomery County drivers: Here’s where you’ll be dodging construction this summer

With the Interstate 75 modernization projected completed through downtown Dayton, some drivers in Montgomery County may have it a little easier. But during this highway construction season there are plenty of other Montgomery County projects to keep drivers on their toes.

The Ohio Department of Transportation is spending more than $44 million in Montgomery County this year on 27 projects. Here are the top four:

Ohio 48 Dayton Main Street bridge 

Project description: Bridge superstructure replacement

Cost: $7.58 million

Estimated completion: September 2019

Interstate 70 at Arlington Road, Brookville

Project description: Bridge superstructure replacement

Cost: $5.3 million

Estimated completion: September 2018

Interstate 75 from Ohio 725 north to East River Road 

Project description: Smooth seal resurfacing

Cost: $1.96 million

Estimated completion: August 2018

Interstate 75 north at U.S. 35 split 

Project description: Bridge deck replacement (ongoing)

Cost: $1.7 million

Estimated completion: September 2018

This year, 88 projects costing $142 million are scheduled to start in District 7 which includes Auglaize, Champaign, Clark, Darke, Logan, Mercer, Miami, Montgomery and Shelby counties. In all, ODOT will spend about $2.35 billion on 959 projects across the state, 28 considered major, officials said.
