OSU president Michael Drake and college of engineering dean David Williams will break ground at a ceremony Aug. 19 at the airport.
The new construction coincides with the 100th anniversary of the university's aviation education program and the 75th anniversary of its airport, according to the school.
Half of the project’s $20-million budges was donated by the Knowlton Foundation, an organization that promotes and advances higher education and provides grants to colleges, according to OSU.
The new terminal is slated to open in January 2019.

Ohio State’s airport infrastructure has remained largely unchanged for more than 50 years.
The two-phase project will support the construction of a new aviation education and research facility with state-of-the-art flight simulators, research labs and classrooms, according to the university.
