5 people with local ties among 7 still in running for Moraine city manager job

The city of Moraine has narrowed the list of city manager candidates to seven applicants.

Those being considered to replace retiring City Manager David Hicks, according to the city, include:

•Pete Bales, Fairborn assistant city manager;

•John Burt, town manager, Groton, Conn.;

•Bryan Chodkowski, former Riverside city manager and current town manager with Enfield, Conn.;

•Michael Davis, Moraine economic development director;

•Julie Hoffman, Moraine parks and rec director;

•Jesse Lightle, Washington Twp. administrator;

•Karen Dixon-Slaton, administrative services director/finance director, Norcross. Ga.

The job posting seeking applicants stated an annual salary range of $120,000 to $150,000. City council received 44 applicants and met Feb. 27 to narrow the list, city officials said.

Hicks, who was promoted from police chief to city manager in 2001, has been with Moraine for 43 years, records show. The target date for his retirement is July 1.
