Road work near Dayton Mall expected to impact traffic for months

A $1.8 million project on roads near the Dayton Mall is expected to start Monday and impact area traffic for several months.

The work along Lyons Road and Ohio 741 in the Miami Crossing District shared by Miami Twp. and Miamisburg is set to begin Monday, officials said. It will involve enhancements for pedestrian and bike path routes, officials said.

The project will be done in three phases and include Lyons Road from Byers Road to Ohio 741, and Ohio 741 north of the Lyons intersection, according to the Montgomery County Transportation Improvement District. The targeted completion date is June 1, 2019.

The first phase of the work will include work on the shoulder of the northern most lane of Lyons. At least one lane of traffic on Lyons will be open at all times, according to the county TID.

The project is being funded by a $1.06 million federal environmental grant. The remainder of the project will be funded by Miami Twp.
