Montgomery County Sheriff Phil Plummer responded to county commissioners’ request for a federal investigation into problems at the jail with a video address to his staff about the county’s “aggressive, politically charged” allegations.

“These inflammatory statements have the potential of putting both you and your families at risk,” Plummer said in an address to staff. “If an employee is harmed due to these outrageous statements I will personally hold the county commissioners accountable.”

Plummer, who is chairman of the Montgomery County Republican Party, then suggested his staff should actively oppose the all-Democrat county commission.

“I would also like to encourage you to remain active in the community in your personal lives and hold these elected officials accountable for this attack on this agency,” he said.
