Special screening of ‘The Cold Blue’ at the Air Force Museum Theatre

The October Living History Film Series event for 2018 will feature the film The Cold Blue Oct. 10 at 6:30 p.m. at the Air Force Museum Theatre, located inside the National Museum of the U.S. Air Force. Tickets for this event are $12 for adults, $10 for military or members of the museum. Doors open at 6 p.m.

Special guest speakers Paul “Bud” Haedike, a former B-17 bombardier, and Peter Hankoff, the film’s producer, will be attendance, sharing stories and insights into the film and the real-life experiences of those brave crews.

The Cold Blue is a meditation on youth, war and trauma. The film was constructed using never-seen-before outtakes of William Wyler’s original 1944 Memphis Belle documentary that were discovered deep in the National Archives. Throughout the film, interviews from nine surviving veterans of the 8th Air Force who flew multiple missions during World War II are woven into the footage to take the viewer back to the harrowing world Wyler captured on film.

The 2018 Living History Film Series is presented by Gold Series Partner Cassano’s Pizza King and supported by Holiday Inn Dayton-Fairborn and Taft. Combining film screenings with dynamic speakers, veterans and film makers, the theater brings aviation history alive on stage and on the theater’s six-story screen.

Tickets are available at the theater's ticket counter, can be ordered online through website afmuseum.com/livinghistory or by calling 937-253-4629.
