AK Steel working to fix pension payment issue

A pension issue is expected to be fixed this week at one of Butler County’s largest employers.

AK Steel told the Journal-News today that “a small number of accounts” were not posted Monday as scheduled due to the transition to a new system.

“The system was updated overnight, and we expect all but two or three of those accounts to be posted during the day today,” said AK Steel spokeswoman Lisa Jester. “We apologize for the delay, and as always, we are happy to talk directly with any retiree who has a question about their account.”

Headquartered in West Chester Twp., AK Steel ranks at 15 on the list of Ohio’s leading manufacturers by number of employees, with 3,460 workers. With 2,400 of those workers in the region, the company is Butler County’s third-largest employer.
