Vince Gill to be ‘covered with holiness’ at concert to benefit Oregon District church

Longtime country music superstar Vince Gill will soon be performing for a particularly angelic audience in Dayton.

Gill is coming to the Fraze Pavilion on Monday, Aug. 13, for a highly anticipated show that will benefit Holy Trinity Church on Bainbridge Street in the Oregon District. Larry  Harris, a parishioner at Holy Trinity, spearheaded the concert. He’s been organizing the event as something that could raise money for the church, but most important, bring the community together for one night.

As concert night has gotten closer, Harris has been working with the Fraze and Gill’s team to arrange a photo opportunity with priests and nuns from Catholic parishes around the area. Tentatively, three priests, including retired Holy Trinity pastor, Father Ken Pleiman, and at least five nuns will get to meet the artist and take a photo after the show.

“And what’s funny, I told Vince’s people, you know what, Vince will never be covered with more holiness than he will with this one photo op, that’s for sure,” Harris said.

Harris, who happens to have a couple of country music star friends, helped his daughter, who works for a Catholic school and parish in Florida, organize and execute a handful of concerts that helped the school during trying financial times --  just as Gill’s Dayton-area concert will. Harris said organizing the evening required lots of cooperation from local sponsors, Fraze, Holy Trinity and the entire community.

Gill will perform at the Fraze Pavilion in Kettering on Monday, Aug. 13, at 8:30 p.m. Tickets are still available, with prices ranging from $37.50 to $75. Prices increase $5 the day of the show.

Tickets can be purchased at etix.com.
