WATCH: How this Centerville space transformed from McDonald’s and bank to large new library space

The $5 million renovation and expansion of the Woodbourne Library has been completed, and the library is now open. Land adjacent to the existing 1965 design library was purchased and cleared of a bank and McDonald’s restaurant to bring the new library design to life.

The space of this Washington-Centerville Public Library branch went up about 30 percent to 31,000 square feet with the construction of the glass-walled addition. The angular modern designed structure includes and new main entrance and larger reading sections for children and teens.

Other interior improvements include seven conference rooms outfitted with new technology, wireless internet and artwork integrated into the interior design.

On the outside, the entire building blends nicely with a designed parking area and Children’s garden that utilize the acquired land to give the library a welcoming feel.
