Weather causes more flight cancellations, American resumes reduced schedule

Some American Airlines flights serviced through regional carrier PSA Airlines are still delayed or cancelled while the airline gets back on a regular schedule.

Six American Airlines flights traveling between Dayton Airport and New York and Washington have been cancelled today, according to the airport’s flight tracker. Some flights arriving from Charlotte and Philadelphia have also been delayed.

The airline said Tuesday that it would fly on a limited schedule for the next couple of days as they work to get employees and aircraft to the correct locations for regular operations.

For unrelated reasons, United Airlines has also cancelled one departure from Dayton to Denver and one arrival from the same city as it recuperates from storms last night that grounded more than 700 flights in Chicago, where United is headquartered.

Eight United Airlines flights flying to and from Dayton were also cancelled last night, mostly from Chicago and Denver.

Over the past six days, more than 3,200 flights across the country have been cancelled between the two airlines.

American Airlines cancellations began last Thursday when a computer system glitch at PSA’s headquarters in Dayton, which resulted in 2500 total flight cancellations or delays.

During a record traveling season, these cancellations have displaced thousands of passengers.
