MORE: Man charged in the death of 2 women wants 2 trials
The case was investigated by West Chester Police and directly presented to the grand jury, according to prosecutors.
Stacy, of Maineville, died at Gordon’s Third Street residence, according to a Butler County Coroner’s report. He was found unresponsive on the floor and had a history of drug use and overdoses, according to the coroner’s office.
Gordon and Griffin are accused of causing the death of 30-year-old Matthew Stacy on Nov. 28, 2017, by furnishing him with drugs, according to the indictment and Butler County Prosecutor Michael Gmoser.
“We have good evidence that they procured drugs for this fellow and he died of an overdose,” Gmoser told the Journal-News, noting Stacy died in a West Chester Twp. apartment. “(The indictment) is what happens when you provide illegal drugs to someone who dies.”
