Discussions about the Austin Landing project started nearly a decade ago. And it was in October 2012 that Steve Tieber, the Dublin Pub’s owner, told this news outlet that he and his then-partners in the project would “wait as long as it takes to ensure it’s done right. We’re still committed, and we’re still very excited about the project.”

But the project — which called for Dublin 7 Whiskey Pub & Carvery to be built overlooking Austin Landing’s park — never materialized. And Tieber told this news outlet this week that he is talking with other developers about alternative sites.

Tieber told Amelia Robinson in her "What Had Happened Was" podcast that was posted this morning that he had been talking with Austin Landing officials about a second location as far back as 2009 and had signed letters of intent as recently as last year, but progress toward opening a second location has stalled.
“It hasn’t happened, and it’s not happening right now, as far as I know,” Tieber said.

Reached later to elaborate, Tieber said, “We are still planning on opening up another location with our Dublin 7 concept. We are in search of the right fit now and have talked to one local developer and two out of Cincinnati.”
“In short there’s nothing currently in the works as we’re just trying to get through St. Patrick’s Day and will probably resume our search after St. Patrick’s Day.”

Cheryl Dillin, spokeswoman for VisCap Development, Austin Landing’s developer, declined to comment directly on the Dublin 7 project, saying it’s VisCap’s policy to comment only on finalized leases and business transactions.
“Austin Landing continues to be a hub of business activity and entertainment of all types,” Dillin said. “Our event season is right around the corner with many exciting new events in and around the park.”

Initially, the founders of Archer’s Tavern and Stone House Tavern were partners in the project, but they pulled out in late 2013 to focus on the expansion of the Archer’s concept.
The Dublin Pub at East Fifth Street and Wayne Avenue in the Oregon District is celebrating its 20th anniversary this year and is gearing up for its largest crowds of the year on St. Patrick’s Day Saturday.

The “DubPub” was named one of the top 10 Irish pubs in the nation in 2014 by the “Tom Horan’s America’s Top Ten Club.” Dublin Pub was ranked 7th in the country and was the only bar-restaurant in Ohio to make the list, which is published by former restaurateur Tom Horan. Horan has authored dining guides for several Houston magazines and for the Houston Chronicle.
