Prepare to slurp and sip.

A downtown restaurant is offering customers a little R and R.

Table 33, 130 W. Second St. in downtown Dayton, launched its Thursday "popup dinner" night series with Rosé and Ramen this fall.

The restaurant announced in a recent Facebook post that the special is back for "the foreseeable future" with new dates including Thursday, Dec. 6, Dec. 13 and Dec. 20.

"We wanted to give people something different and something new,"  Table 33 general manager Sam DeLong told this news organization.

For $25, diners will receive a bottle of rosé  wine and a bowl of vegan, beef, chicken or pork ramen.

The cost is $13 for only a bowl of ramen with no rosé.

The ramen broth will be made in-house with local produce, grass-fed beef bones, and/or free-range chicken or pork.

DeLong said the restaurant will feature rosé paired with ramen from 5 to 10 p.m. Thursday nights for at least two months.

Wines will be offered at 33 percent off, and there is a $3.33 beer special.

Table 33 chef Desmond Keane said he fell in love with ramen while teaching English in South Korea.

He ate it nearly daily and said it conjures up great memories in his mind of the women who served it to him and of the aunts and moms who taught him to prepare Korean delights.

“The food I put on my menu, it is literally an interpretation of my travels,” said Keane, a Filipino and Irish American born in St. Petersburg, Florida. “It’s not just Asian food. It is food from Florida.”

Keane said tastes of Florida from Cuban sandwiches made with Cuban bread from Evan’s Bakery to smoked fish finds its way to the menu.

“People know it because they vacation in Florida,” he said. “All of the food I make has a memory.”
