You can get a free Icee float from Sam’s Club this weekend, even if you’re not a member

There’s a lot to love about Sam’s Club. Not only can you stock up on some of your favorites for usually cheaper prices, but they also have things you can’t get anywhere else — like a nine-pound bucket of Oreo frosting, which alone is obviously worth the cost of a membership.

The best things by far, however, are the free samples. Getting to try new things before you buy them is a huge plus and it actually makes grocery shopping pretty fun. Now, in honor of National Ice Cream Month, Sam’s Club is extending its free samples to cafe items.

On July 15 and 16 from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m., all Sam’s Clubs in the U.S. will be handing out Icee float samples. According to a Sam’s Club spokesperson, the treat has been a favorite of employees for years, but the company is now revealing the secret to its members.

You’ll find a special Icee float cart at your local store, where there will be three flavors: frozen cherry, frozen Pepsi and frozen blue raspberry. All are topped with new Member’s Mark vanilla ice cream.

Don’t have a Sam’s Club membership? Don’t worry, you can still get an Icee float because the Sam’s Club Cafe is open to the general public. And if you can’t get to a store on July 15 or 16, the company is serving 20-ounce Icee floats for 99 cents all summer long!

Speaking of perks for non-members, there’s only one thing better than ice cream that you can also get at Sam’s Club without a membership: booze. That’s right, you can head to Sam’s Club without a membership and still get the store’s prices on wine, beer and spirits!

If you’re craving more samples or have been thinking of joining Sam’s Club for real, just visit the company’s website to learn how you can join up.

Long-closed Dayton club re-emerging for a night this weekend

The DJ boat booth, heavy duty shark cage used for dancing and nude mannequins were moved out long ago. The building it once inhabited now provides shelter for homeless teenagers, but the spirit of that Asylum Nightclub lives on, Matt Freeman says. Freeman, a longtime DJ at the alternative music dance club, will host the 2018 installment...

How to make seasonal, sippable mulled beverages at home

Forget the Pumpkin Spice Latte (or PSL, or Pretty Sad Latte). The real seasonal spiced drinks we should be celebrating this time of year are mulled beverages. Who better to turn to for some seasonal cheer and advice than Paul Taylor? He’s the head of bar concepts for Drink Company, the D.C. outfit that puts on the massively popular, line-out-the-door...

Don’t let ‘pie-dough-phobia’ keep you from making this slab pie

Throughout my cookbook-author travels, I have witnessed “doughphobia” - the dread and worry over making pie dough that afflicts what seems to be a significant percentage of home cooks. Here’s my advice: Don’t let it keep you from offering up a crowd-pleasing slab pie at your next get-together. A slab pie can be made in a rimmed...
