Cleveland head coach Hue Jackson isn’t ready to claim DeShone Kizer as the Browns’ starting quarterback because of one preseason game.

“I think it’s way too early to talk about that,” Jackson said, according to ESPN’s Tony Grossi. “Let’s see it for what it was: the guy made some plays at the end to give us a chance to win, but there’s still things he needs to do better.”

Kizer played for five possessions Thursday night against the Saints and completed 11 of his 18 passes for 184 yards and one touchdown. His touchdown throw of 45 yards proved to be the game-winner for Cleveland late in the fourth quarter.

The Browns’ other two quarterbacks failed to provide the spark that Kizer did. Brock Osweiler started and completed 6 of his 14 passes for 42 yards. Cody Kessler backed him up and went 5 of 10 for 47 yards.

Still, Jackson and the Browns aren’t rushing Kizer into the starter’s role as he still appears to be third on the depth chart for the time being. Osweiler struggled for Houston in 2016, while Kessler went 0-8 for the Browns as a starter.
