What would proposed ‘Stand Your Ground’ gun bill in Ohio do?

College decision is ‘done’ for Wayne’s ‘Blue’ Smith, who will announce choice Aug. 27

Standout wide receiver will pick between finalists Ohio State, Kentucky, Cincinnati

Wayne High School senior L’Christian “Blue” Smith has made up his mind, he’s just not ready to tell everybody yet.

Smith will go public with his college choice in front of a national TV audience on ESPN on Aug. 27 when Wayne opens the season at Pine-Richland High School in Gibsonia, Pennsylvania.

The 6-foot-6, 210-pound wide receiver is the fourth-ranked recruit in Ohio in the Class of 2018, according to the 247sports composite.

The Warriors wide receiver got his first offer in the first month of his freshman season. The Kentucky Wildcats jumped on the bandwagon early, and they remain one of Smith’s final three teams.

It didn’t take long for the rest of college football’s blue bloods to join the party. Ohio State, Alabama, Michigan, Michigan State and Notre Dame are among the 16 offers that Smith has received.

“Not many people get to have as many opportunities as I’ve had,” Smith said during a break in practice. “Just coming out here, these guys work just as hard as me every day and some of them don’t have any offers.”

Smith has narrowed the field to Ohio State, Kentucky, and Cincinnati and he admits the decision has already been made.

“Yeah it’s done,” Smith said. “I’ve been praying for a long time and I have come down to the school I’m going to and we’re very comfortable with the decision.”

At 6-foot-5, Smith has always been a big target, but the bulls-eye has grown with every game.

“My position I’m in I just have to soak it all in,” Smith said. “Every day I come out here and work to make my team better, if my team gets better that just improves every aspect of our game.”

Wayne made back-to-back trips to the Division I championship game in Smith’s first two seasons. Smith has been part of 38 wins in three seasons, 10 of those in the playoffs.

“The goal is to win a state championship,” he said. “That’s always something that’s haunted us here at Wayne for many, many years and I feel like this team can do it. We’ve got a long of young guys but once they figure it out we’ll be dangerous.”
