Cozart moves up in All-Star voting

No Reds shortstop has started All-Star Game since Barry Larkin in 2000

Cincinnati Reds shortstop Zack Cozart moved from third to second in voting for the All-Star Game, Major League Baseball announced Monday.

With 547,750 votes, Cozart trails only the Los Angeles Dodgers’ Corey Seager (604,783). Cozart passed the Chicago Cubs’ Addison Russell (537,688).

Since the release of the first voting update last week, Cozart has received 283,234 votes. Seager has received 205,436 votes.

Cozart leads NL shortstops in most major categories, including batting average (.344), home runs (9) and RBIs (33). The last Reds shortstop to start the All-Star Game was Barry Larkin in 2000.

Voting continues until June 29. The 88th All-Star Game takes place July 11 in Miami, Fla.
