Dayton offers scholarship to four-star recruit in 2020 class

Desmond Polk averaged 19.0 points per game as a sophomore

Desmond Polk, a four-star point guard in the class of 2020, announced a scholarship offer from the Dayton Flyers on Wednesday.

The 6-foot-4 Polk attends La Lumiere School in La Porte, Ind. He ranks 125th in the 2020 class, according to Rivals.com, and 130th, according to 247Sports.com. He also has offers from Iowa, DePaul, Georgia Tech and Kansas State, among others.

Polk attended New Berlin West High School (Wisc.) the last two years an planned to transfer to Nicolet High School in Glendale, Wisc., but was told he would not be able to play varsity basketball because of Wisconsin transfer rules, according to the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel. That's how he ended up at La Lumiere, which is well known for producing Division I talent.

Polk averaged 19.0 points, 5.7 rebounds, 3.2 assists, 1.4 steals and 1.2 blocks per game as a sophomore.

Dayton has two scholarships open for 2019 and will have three opening in 2020.
