Dayton to play Hofstra in first round of Charleston Classic

Tournament to be played Nov. 16, 17 and 19

Dayton will play Hofstra at 7:30 p.m. Nov. 16 in the first round of the Charleston Classic. ESPNU will televise the game. The bracket was announced Wednesday.

The other first-round games are Auburn vs. Indiana State at 11:30 a.m. (ESPNU); Old Dominion vs. Temple at 2 p.m. (ESPN3); and Clemson vs. Ohio at 5 p.m. (ESPN2).

Dayton and Hofstra are on the same side of the bracket as Clemson and Ohio. Dayton will play at 9:30 p.m. Nov. 17 (ESPN2) if it beats Hofstra and at 7 p.m. if it loses (ESPNEWS).

Games will be played at TD Arena in Charleston, S.C. The final day of games will be Nov. 19. Games will be played at 1, 3:30, 7 and 9:30 p.m.

Dayton last played in the tournament in 2012, losing to Colorado in the first round before beating Boston College and Auburn.

Hofstra posted back-to-back 20-win seasons before falling to 15-17 last season. Dayton and Hofstra have played once. On Dec. 29, 1981, Dayton won 77-51 at UD Arena.

Dayton has played Clemson once, winning 71-69 in December 1974 at UD Arena. Dayton last played the Ohio Bobcats in 1965, winning 66-65 in the first round of the NCAA tournament.
