Dayton will be down one player in opener

Dayton Flyers freshman forward Matej Svoboda will miss the season-opening game Friday against Ball State because of an illness.

FAN PERSPECTIVE: Flyer fans on why they love UD basketball

Svoboda scored 13 points in the exhibition victory against Ohio Dominican on Saturday. This would have been the UD debut for the Czech Republic native, but he will have to wait until Thursday when Dayton plays Hofstra in the Charleston Classic.

Dayton will have nine scholarship players available for the opener.
