Dragons rain delay: Guarantee you haven’t seen this before

Umpires stopped play after the fourth inning and tarp was laid over the infield, despite no rain at the time. That drew a major confrontation from Whitecaps manager Lance Parrish and the umpires. Spectators located near the West Michigan dugout also joined in the exchange, chiding Parrish for his colorful language.

That all changed within 15 minutes, when a storm front drenched downtown Dayton and scattered fans.

Parrish is a longtime former major-league catcher, most notably with the Whitecaps parent club Detroit Tigers.

The game was stopped at 8:30 p.m. and resumed at 11 p.m. Following another heavy downpour, play was suspended a second time at 11:13 p.m.
