Fogle will resign as Trotwood-Madison athletic director

Guy Fogle, who oversaw an unprecedented run of football and basketball as the athletic director at Trotwood-Madison High School, announced his resignation from that position on Monday.

A former local television sports personality, Fogle will have held the AD position for seven years after succeeding Jim Ladd to begin the 2011 school year.

“It’s been on my mind for several months,” he said in a statement. “I thought and prayed about it and it’s time to move on. It’s been a great run. I’m ready for a new challenge.”

He will remain as the Rams’ AD through the end of this school year.

Trotwood won its only two football state championships with Fogle as AD. The Rams, under then head coach Maurice Douglass, were 15-0 and won a Division II state title in 2011, Fogle’s first fall at Trotwood.

The Rams also went 15-0 this past season, winning a D-III state title under head coach Jeff Graham, who succeeded Douglass.

Trotwood also has appeared in three boys basketball final fours since 2014, including the past two seasons. Trotwood lost to two-time defending D-II state champ Akron St. Vincent-St. Mary in a state final to end this past season.

Besides the football and boys basketball success, Trotwood also has become a major girls basketball program in the Greater Western Ohio Conference. Trotwood won football and boys and girls basketball titles and for the first time a GWOC American South divisional wrestling title this school year.

“The concept has been to build the program by putting in the right coaches, giving them the tools and then empowering them,” Fogle said. “Program building requires a plan and a clear philosophy. We stressed to the head coaches to run their programs like CEOs and take complete ownership.”
