Worth noting: The Michie Stadium field is named in honor of long-time Army coach Earl "Red" Blaik, who played at Miami from 1915 through 1917 and coached the then-Redskins in 1924 and 1925. Blaik coached the Black Knights from 1941 through 1958, going 121-33-10 and winning the team's only three national championships in 1944, 1945 and 1946. He is honored as one of nine former Miami coaches or players who went on to become coaches with statues in the Cradle of Coaches Plaza at the south end of Yager Stadium. … Army's defense forced four turnovers with three strip sacks and a fumble recovery in a 52-3 win over San Jose State on Saturday at Levi's Stadium. … The Black Knights have a nine-game home winning streak, but they played their last three games on the road and haven't played at home since September 15.

Quotable: Monken, during his weekly media session on Tuesday, on Army playing at home: "After a long, tiring trip, hopefully, our guys are going to recover and do a really good job of getting some rest and getting ready for this week to play Miami, who I've been really impressed with. Their coach is a college teammate of mine, and they've played some really, really good football – particularly the last few weeks. He mentioned that in his press conference yesterday, and he's right. They play good football, so we've got a real challenge on our hands."
