Ohio State makes top 10 in first College Football Playoff ranking of 2018

Buckeyes return to action at noon Saturday against Nebraska

The Ohio State Buckeyes rank 10th in the first College Football Playoff ranking of the 2018 season.

The first ranking was released Tuesday. The ranking will be updated every Tuesday in November. The final ranking, in which the four playoff semifinal teams will be announced, will be released Dec. 2.

Ohio State sits behind the following teams: No. 1 Alabama; No. 2 Clemson; No. 3 LSU; No. 4 Notre Dame; No. 5 Michigan; No. 6 Georgia; No. 7 Oklahoma; No. 8 Washington State; and No. 9 Kentucky.

Here’s the rest of the top 25: No. 11 Florida; No. 12 Central Florida; No. 13 West Virginia; No. 14 Penn State; No. 15 Utah; No. 16 Iowa; No. 17 Texas; No. 18 Mississippi State; No. 19 Syracuse; No. 20 Texas A&M; No. 21 N.C. State; No. 22 Boston College; No. 23 Fresno State; No. 24 Iowa State; and No. 25 Virginia.

Ohio State (7-1) plays Nebraska at noon Saturday. The Buckeyes have one more regular-season game against a ranked team. They play Michigan on Nov. 24 at Ohio Stadium.
