The museum will be closed through March 2019 and will reopen prior to 2019 Reds Opening Day, according to the Reds.
The renovations will impact all 16,000 square feet of the largest team hall of fame in Major League Baseball. Plans include incorporating more technology and historical artifacts into a design that, according to the hall of fame, “will better tell the rich and storied history of the Reds.”
“Our design team has been tasked to create an innovative museum experience like no other,” said Rick Walls, Reds Hall of Fame and Museum executive director. “As much as fans have enjoyed our museum since we opened in 2004, I know they will love the ‘new’ museum even more as we celebrate the 150th anniversary of professional baseball in 2019.”
Offseason tours of Great American Ball Park by the museum will continue during the renovations, along with educational programming and outreach events.
The museum is offering half-price admission through Oct. 31 for fans before renovations begin.
