HS Roundup 1/27: Brown breaks two school record in Talawanda win

Addie Brown broke two Talawanda school records in its 57-34 rout of Mount Healthy.

In addition to putting up 28 points on the night, Brown broke the school record for free throws made in a game with 18.

The previous record stood at 16, set in 1985.

Brown also broke the school record for most in a season with 120. The previous record was 114 in the 1984-1985 season.

Jazz Bennett tacked on 15 points in the win and Kyra Koontz netted a double double with 12 points and 11 rebounds for her third of the season.

Boys Basketball

Piqua 73, Stebbins 72: Ben Schmiesing earned 21 points in the winning effort. Jonathan Mpanzu led all scorers with 23 in the loss.

Edgewood 64, Valley View 54: Trent Allen scored 18 points in the Edgewood victory. Ben Herman countered with 18 of his own in the loss.

Bellbrook 63, Waynesville 41: Donnie Crouch’s 15 points led Bellbrook in the win. T.J. Nagy tacked on 14 and Caleb Scott 12.

Brookville 52, Milton-Union 38: Wade Turner notched 16 points in the win over MU. Jesse McGriff added on 12 and eight rebounds.

Clinton Massie 62, Carlisle 54: Thomas Myers put up 21 points in the win. Trey Uetrecht tacked on 20.

Oakwood 64, Bethel 54: Andy Neff led all scorers with 22 for Oakwood. Caleb South had 18 for Bethel.

Yellow Springs 65, Triad 61: Andrew Clark netted 23 points in the win, shooting 11-for-11 from the free throw line. Brinley Harlan countered with a career high 31 points in the loss. Hadley LeVan tacked on 20.

Fenwick 54, Carroll 46: C.J. Napier’s 15 points led Fenwick and all scorers in the victory. Matt Cogan netted 13 in the losing effort.

Ponitz 82, Toledo Scott 52: Damonte Bailey recorded in his second double double in as many days with 25 points and 15 rebounds. Malik Pooler added on another with 13 points, 11 steals, six rebounds and six assists. Eric Sealey rounded out the double doubles with 14 points and 12 rebounds.

Arcanum 50, Newton 43: Zach Smith shot for 13 points in the Arcanum victory. Carter Gray tacked on 12. Ryan Mollette’s 12 points led Newton.

Fort Jennings 62, New Knoxville 52: Nathan Tinnerman recorded 22 points in the loss. Ben Lammers tacked on 16.

St. Henry 53, Wapakoneta 50: Tyler Schlarman recorded 27 points to lead all scorers in the win. Aaron Good led Wapak with 20.

Jackson Center 43, New Bremen 30: Grant Hoehne netted nine points in the loss. Avery Powers tacked on eight.

Girls Basketball

Beavercreek 54, Springfield 30: Bailey Draughn tallied 14 points in the ‘Creek win. Mickayla Purdue countered with 16 in the losing effort.

Butler 45, Piqua 14: Lauren Williams had four points in the Piqua loss.

Greenville 48, Troy 34: McKenna Taylor shot for 11 points to lead Troy.

Lebanon 62, West Carrollton 29: Kendall Folley dropped 19 points and two 3-pointers in the win. Erecca Liva had eight for West Carrollton.

Northmont 66, Stivers 25: MaKayla Cooper netted 14 points in the win. Kaitlyn McCrary added on 13.

Stebbins 42, Xenia 41: Trinity Morton-Nooks recorded 16 points and 10 rebounds for the double double in the loss.

Tippecanoe 83, Sidney 13: Cali Stewart’s 15 points led Tipp in the win. Hailee Varvel chipped in 13 and Maddie Frederick 12.

Hamilton 74, Oak Hills 58: CiCi Riggins tallied a double double with 24 points, 10 rebounds, five steals, three blocks and two assists. Kira Ash tacked on 24.

Lakota West 66, Lakota East 66: Abby Prohaska added 18 points to her season total, with seven rebounds, four assists and four steals in the win. Jordan Stanley’s 10 points led East.

Mason 64, Fairfield 36: Kelis Jones had 13 points, three rebounds and two steals in the Fairfield loss.

Tecumseh 72, Ben Logan 59: Presley Griffitts led all scorers with 29 points in the win. Nikki Current countered with 28 points in the loss.

Urbana 34, Indian Lake 26: Alaina Lyons scored 23 points in the win. Cassidy James and Shebly Stoops each netted six rebounds.

Talawanda 57, Mount Healthy 34: Addie Brown put up 28 points and broke two school records in the win: most free throws in game with 18 and most free throws made in a season with 120. Kyra Koontz netted her third double double of the season with 12 points and 11 rebounds.

Bellbrook 61, Oakwood 30: Cassidy Hofacker tallied 16 points for Bellbrook in the divisional win. Lauren Hapgood added 12 points to her season total in the losing effort.

Carlisle 52, Dixie 39: Christa Harris went 11-for-14 from the free throw line in the final three minutes to secure the Carlisle win, scoring 32 points on the night. Mckinlee Ruppert had 16 points for Dixie.

Madison 72, Northridge 21: Loraine Reeder had 11 points in the loss.

Preble Shawnee 66, Twin Valley South 31: Nicole Sims recorded 19 points in the win. Mylan Crews had 13 for TVS in the loss.

Valley View 79, Eaton 39: Megan Black led all scorers with 17 points in the win. Bailey Shepherd recorded 10 in the loss.

Waynesville 43, Milton-Union 40: Rachel Murray put up 15 points in Waynesville’s 17th win of the season. Kristen Dickison had 13 points, six assists and three steals for MU.

Badin 36, Alter 31: Emma Broermann’s 10 points and six rebounds led all scorers in the Badin victory. Abby Carruth put up six in the losing effort. The win was Badin’s first over Alter since February 2002.

Chaminade Julienne 62, McNicholas 46: Dallas Jones put up 22 points in the CJ win. Annie Weckesser added on 12 and Staci Greene 11.

Purcell Marian 52, Carroll 48: Allie Stefanek shot for five from the three point, putting up 17 on the night. Julie Keller chipped in 14 in the win.

Dunbar 51, Dayton Christian 44: Aria Cole netted 13 points in the Dunbar win, while Jazmon Perkins added on 11. Camrun Collinsworth shot for 20 points in the DC loss.

Greeneview 74, Madison Plains 12: Frankie Fife notched 18 points in the win.

Mechanicsburg 56, Northeastern 45: Kasey Schipfer scored 14 points to lead ‘Burg in the win. Hayley Suchland added 30 to her season total for Northeastern.

Triad 39, West Jefferson 35: Emma Vanninen rebounded from a sprained ankle, putting up 12 points and seven rebounds in the win. Cati LeVan tacked on nine and Alea Ferguson eight.

Covington 36, Jackson Center 27: Makenzie Long and Samantha Whiteman scored 10 each in the win.

Tri County North 51, Newton 45: Megan Poling had 21 points to lead all scorers in the win. Anna Wolfe put up 15 to lead Newton.

Fort Loramie 49, Miami East 38: Fort Loramie snapped ME’s 10 game win streak, led by Abby Holthaus with 14 points. Morgan Haney countered with 16 in the losing effort.

New Bremen 51, Waynesfield 27: Paige Jones netted 11 points in the NB win. Cassidy Craig countered with 10 points in the loss.

St. Henry 49, Lehman Catholic 40: Nikki Keller tallied 14 points in the win. Alanna O’Leary led LC in the loss with 10.

Wrestling

Ben Logan Raider Invitational: Tecumseh took home first place at 126, 132, 152, 170 and 285 for the most first place finishers overall.

Eaton Invitational: Chaminade Julienne, Ross and Valley View finished as the top three. Jordan Hardrick, Jaden Hardrick, Jared Kleff and Jacob Padilla all took home first for Wayne.

Graham Duals: Graham bested Richmond (Mi) 60-12 and Wadsworth 48-21. Tanner Jordan, Alek Martin, Nicke Moore, Isaiah Stickley, Joey Sanchez, Ryan Thomas, Rocky Jordan and Gage Braun all went 2-0 on the night.

LCC Thunderbird Invitational: Miami East’s Olivia Shore took home first at 106 and the outstanding wrestler of the tournament title. Miami East finished first overall with 196.0 points. Troy Christian was close behind with 188.5.

Milford Invitational: Monroe placed second with 202.0 points. Middletown followed close behind with 166.0 points at fourth. Gavin Murphy was the champion at 220 for Fairborn.

Watkins Memorial Invitational: Springboro won the tournament overall. Mason Kleinberg took home the championship at 126, Jacob Kowalski at 182 and Kevin Johnson at 220.

Swimming

Cavalier Invitational: The Versailles boys and the Fort Recovery girls placed first. Ezra Ferguson placed first in the boys 100 yard breaststroke and boys 200 yard IM for New Bremen.

Gymnastics

Anderson Invitational: Miamisburg placed fourth overall, scoring 137.75 points for its highest score all season.
