HS Roundup 4/10: Miamisburg baseball blanks Oakwood

Led by freshmen talent on the mound, Miamisburg baseball shut out Oakwood, 9-0.

Dane Hall and Will Cook combined for the shutout in the win. Hall struck out six, allowing four hits in his first career win. Cook allowed two hits and recorded four strikeouts.

Jon Yerkins batted 4-for-for on the night. Yerkins, joined by Ethan Schultz, Aaron Sunderman and Casey Lykings all drove in runs in the win.

Miamisburg will play Fenwick on the road Wednesday, April 11.

Baseball

Benjamin Logan 7, Bellefontaine 2: Cole Waugh and Cole Jones each managed three hits to lead in the Ben Logan victory. Micah Anderson tacked on four stolen bases, as Ben Logan totaled 12 overall.

Coldwater 17, New Knoxville 0: Coldwater’s offense was led by Austin Riethman’s three hits that resulted in two doubles, while Jake Wenning tacked on four RBIs, a double and a single.

Fort Recovery 2, St. Henry 0: Nick Thwaits pitched a complete game, earning the shutout for Fort Recovery. Thwaits stuck out nine batters in the winning effort. Rylee Desitch tallied a double for St. Henry in the loss.

National Trail 5, Tri-Village 1: Peyton Lane’s two runs, two RBIs, two stolen bases, two hits and one single led NT offensively in the win. Travis Hunt chipped in a hit, a walk, a stolen base and a run, while Cameron Harrison tacked on another hit, run and RBI.

Northwestern 14, Indian Lake 4: Evan Crew pitched a complete game as he struck out nine batters in the 10 run victory over Indian Lake.

West Liberty-Salem 11, Catholic Central 3: Cayden Whitman earned the win on the mound for WLS, striking out five batters while allowing only two hits. Zech Wilcox led offensively with three hits in four at bats in the win, tacking on two doubles and two RBIs.

Softball

Clinton Massie 10, Badin 3: Maddie Curtner and Sydney Rawlings each went 2-for-3 at bat in the losing effort. Gracie McHugh was 2-for-4.

Eaton 13, Franklin 3: Annika Gels crushed her first career grandslam in the win, tacking on four RBIs and a double offensively, striking out six from the plate. Bailey Worley batted 2-for-4 with two RBIs.

Fenwick 14, Oakwood 4: Abby Gustley and Annabelle Thomas each hit four runs in the Fenwick victory. Gustley hit 4-for-4, while Thomas went 3-for-3. Samantha Bany tacked three runs and an RBI.

Fort Loramie 16, Fairlawn 0: Aleah Frilling earned her first career win on the mound, striking out six batters and allowing zero walks. Frilling tacked on five RBIs, batting 4-for-5 on the night.

Mechanicsburg 11, Greeneview 1: Bryce Ratliff and Caitlin Sweat each earned doubles in the losing effort. Allison Simpson tacked on two singles for Greeneview.

National Trail 16, Tri-Village 15: Breann Lipps and Jadyn Sharp each hit for three runs in the losing effort. Kloey Murphey, Madi Foreman and Peyton Bietry each tacked on two runs for Tri-Village.

Northmont 11, Xenia 4: Kassie Kelemen led offensively, amassing four RBIs, two runs and one homerun for Northmont in the win. Sydney Weaver tacked on a double, batting 2-for-4. Caity Moody tallied a homerun and a double in the Xenia loss.

Northwestern 11, Indian Lake 8: Libby Cotterman and Bethany Golliday each netted three hits in the Indian Lake loss. Jenna Robbins struck out four batters in the Northwestern win.

West Liberty-Salem 18, Catholic Central 0: Mady Stratton paved the way to victory with a homerun, a double and a single, ending the night with three RBIs and two runs. Kelsey Day pitched the shutout for WLS.

Boys Tennis

Centerville (B) 4, Lehman Catholic 1: Ryan Goettemoeller tallied the lone singles win for Lehman Catholic in the losing effort.

Miami Valley 5, Yellow Springs 0: Colton Morehart, Niyanth Reddy and Nathan Howell all picked up singles victories in the sweep of Yellow Springs.

Miamisburg 3, Springfield 2: The doubles duos of Kareem Ghumrawi and Trey Singleton and Jon Bierley and Eldo Buckner earned straight set wins to sweep the doubles competition of the match. Felix Sasse netted the lone singles win for Miamisburg in the win.

Milton Union 3, Preble Shawnee 2: Peyton Brown won at third singles for Milton Union, while the doubles duos of Jake Swafford and Nathan Black and Luke Barnes and Jacob Motz won out to earn the win for MU. Pierce Elliot and Luke Feck both picked up wins for PS.

Northridge 3, Carlisle 2: Northridge notched its first league victory of the season over Carlisle. Josh Brown and Harley Geisel won at first and third singles respectively, while Travis Royalty and Cameron McCormick took home the first doubles title in the win.

Tecumseh 4, Northwestern 1: Scott Sinkhorn and Parker Randenburg took a first doubles victory for Tecumseh in the win. Jaer Glass and Luke Mary earned the lone doubles win for Northwestern in the loss.

Waynesville 5, Dixie 0: Ben Muth, James Schneider and Seth Sturgill all recorded singles wins in the sweep victory over Dixie.
