The increase is needed to offset the pay raises for game officials, according to Shuck. Referees and others who officiate GMC sports are receiving a raise, their first in three years and second in eight years, he said.
“That’s fair,” he said of the increased ticket prices.
Every high school football game requires five officials and 600 officiating slots need to be filled for boys and girls basketball games, according to Shuck.
Compared to other entertainment options, high school sporting events are a good value, he said.
“A great opportunity to support your kids and your neighbor’s kids,” Shuck said. “There is a lot of good about that.”
GMC teams are: Colerain, Fairfield, Hamilton, Lakota East, Lakota West, Middletown, Mason, Oak Hills, Princeton and Sycamore.
