Wright State blanks NKU, 12-0, in wet night at Fifth Third Field

It was a wet night in downtown Dayton on Thursday, but it didn’t slow the Wright State Raiders.

The Raiders and Northern Kentucky University waited out a two hour rain-delay at Fifth Third Field as the Raiders (34-15) rolled to a 12-0 win over the Norse.

Wright State broke up a scoreless tie in the second inning when Zach Weatherford ripped a double into the left field corner, scoring Alex Alders from first base.

That was more than enough support for Ryan Weiss. The redshirt sophomore threw five scoreless innings for his ninth win in 11 decisions before turning it over to the bullpen.

Wright State added four more runs in the fourth inning, three of those off NKU errors.

The Raiders and Norse will play two more games Friday and Saturday to close out the regular season.

Wright State will host the Horizon League Tournament starting Wednesday at Nischwitz Stadium.
