Wright State falls on OT buzzer-beater in Horizon League opener

Gentry had eight of his 24 points in the OT, including a top-of-the-key trey to tie the game at 72 with 7.7 seconds left.

After a timeout, the Raiders seemed to get the ball stopped away from the basket, but the Flames found a wide-open Washington with a quick pass to the corner.

The Raiders are 6-8 overall and 0-6 in games decided by seven points or fewer.

Mark Hughes and Alan Vest had 11 each, while All-Horizon League center Loudon Love, who sat out the last game with a sprained ankle, had nine points and 10 rebounds off the bench before fouling out late in regulation.

Marcus Ottey had 23 points and Tarkus Ferguson 18 points and 10 rebounds for UIC (7-7).

The Raiders had two chances to win at the end of regulation. But Parker Ernsthausen missed a dive with 29 seconds left and, after a UIC turnover with 1.9 seconds to go, Hughes had a short jumper blocked at the buzzer.
