Wright State pulls away in second half for win over Cedarville

Cole Gentry had 15 points and Mark Hughes 14, and Wright State blew open a tight game early in the second half for a 58-39 win over Division-II Cedarville on Tuesday.

Louden Love had his third straight double-double and fourth of the season with 11 points and 11 rebounds. Bill Wampler chipped in 11 points for the cold-shooting Raiders (4-3), who shot 28.6 percent in the first half and 31.8 for the night.

No one from Cedarville (2-4) reached double figures.

The Raiders had probably their worst half of the season in the opening 20 minutes. They traded leads from the start and shot only 10-for-35 from the field, taking a 27-25 advantage at the break when Gentry hit a 3-pointer with three seconds left.

Love had eight points and six rebounds, but he didn’t get much help. The other starters were 6-for-19, and the subs were 1-for-10.

The Raiders didn’t get out of the blocks quickly in the second half. Cedarville led, 30-27, when Branden Maughmer scored on a put-back with 18:40 to go.

But Hughes had two 3-pointers and break-away dunk to fuel a 17-0 run for a 44-30 lead with 12:30 to go.
