Multi-agency manhunt for suspected rapist ends

A rape suspect who managed to escape from the custody of a Ohio sheriff’s deputy, spawning a multi-law enforcement agency manhunt, killed himself Monday night.

Brandon Lee Powell, 32, shot himself while in a crawl space at his parent’s home located southwest of Toledo in Antwerp, according to an Associated Press report.

Multiple law enforcement agencies including Paulding County Sheriff’s deputies, the FBI and U.S. Marshals were still searching for Lee on Sunday – two days after he escaped while being transported from a Toledo psychiatric hospital to the Paulding County Jail, according to a CBS News report.

A deputy suffered minor injuries, according to CBS News.
